What is Miconazole (Elica-M)

Treating fungal infections of the mouth and throat.
Miconazole (Elica-M) is an azole antifungal. It works by killing sensitive fungi.

Important safety information:

• If you accidentally apply the flat side of the tablet to the gum, there is no cause for concern. The medicine will still be effective.
• Avoid activities that may make the tablet fall off after it has been applied. Such activities may include touching or pressing the tablet after it is in place, wearing upper dentures, chewing gum, hitting the tablet when brushing your teeth, or rinsing the mouth with too much force.
• Be sure to use Miconazole for the full course of treatment. If you do not, the medicine may not clear up your infection completely. The fungus could also become less sensitive to this or other medicines. This could make the infection harder to treat in the future.
• Miconazole (Elica-M) should not be used in CHILDREN younger than 16 years old; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed. Children may have a risk of choking on Miconazole (Elica-M).
• PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Miconazole (Elica-M) while you are pregnant. It is not known if Miconazole (Elica-M) is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Miconazole (Elica-M), check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.

Miconazole (Elica-M) side effects

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:

Diarrhea; headache; mild mouth discomfort; nausea; stomach pain; taste changes; vomiting.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:

Mometasone (Elica-M) is a topical corticosteroid, prescribed for treatment of inflammatory skin disorders (such as eczema and psoriasis), allergic rhinitis (such as hay fever), and asthma. Nasal spray is used for seasonal allergies like runny nose. It reduces inflammatory reactions and modifies immune reactions in the body.

Hypersensitivity.

Mometasone (Elica-M) dosage

Adult: Topical Corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses as 0.1% cream/ointment/lotion: Apply as directed by your physician.
Nasal Spray: two sprays (50 mcg of Mometasone (Elica-M) furoate in each spray) in each nostril once daily (total daily dose of 200 mcg).

Mometasone (Elica-M) usage

Apply a small amount of Cream to the affected area once a day.

Mometasone (Elica-M) precautions

Discontinue if irritation or sensitization occurs.
Systemic absorption increases when area of application is extensive or an occlusive dressing is used.
Caution needed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in patients with history of diabetes, hepatic and renal diseases, myasthenia gravis, heart disease, ocular diseases, osteoporosis, gastrointestinal diseases, and history of seizure disorders.
It requires dosage adjustments with thyroid status. Monitor growth of children.

How should I take Miconazole (Elica-M)?

Use Miconazole (Elica-M) as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

• Use Miconazole (Elica-M) in the morning after you brush your teeth.
• Wash your hands and dry well before handling Miconazole (Elica-M).
• Place the rounded side of the tablet against the upper gum just above the incisor tooth. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure where to place Miconazole (Elica-M).
• Apply slight pressure over the upper lip to hold the tablet in place for 30 seconds to make sure that it stays in place. The tablet may be used if it sticks to the cheek, the inside of the lip, or the gum.
• After you apply Miconazole (Elica-M), allow it to dissolve slowly in your mouth. Do not chew, crush, or swallow it whole.
• Apply your next dose to the other side of the mouth. Before you apply your next dose, rinse your mouth to be sure none of the previous tablet still remains.
• You may eat and drink while the tablet is in place. However, do not chew gum while the tablet is in place.
• If the tablet does not stick or falls off within the first 6 hours, replace the same tablet back against the gum immediately. If the tablet still does not stick, remove that tablet and put a new one in place.
• If you accidentally swallow Miconazole (Elica-M) within the first 6 hours, drink a glass of water. Then put a new tablet in place. The tablet should only be replaced once. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you accidentally swallow the tablet and you are not sure what to do.
• If the tablet falls off or is accidentally swallowed after it has been in place for 6 hours or more, do not replace that tablet until your next regularly scheduled dose.
• To clear up your infection completely, use Miconazole (Elica-M) for the full course of treatment. Keep using it even if your condition improves in a few days.
• If you miss a dose of Miconazole (Elica-M), use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.

Who should not take Miconazole (Elica-M)?

Some medical conditions may interact with Miconazole (Elica-M). Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
